Patti Marat, Nurse Practitioner obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama in 2007, where her practicum areas were Research, OBGYN, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Pulmonology, ENT, Orthopedics, Radiology, and Education. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Georgia in 2003, and her Associate of Science in Nursing from Coastal Georgia Community College in 1996.

Before joining AppleCare, she was Nurse Practitioner with the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Health Unit.

Patti serves at the Henri Woodman Clinic at the Coastal Medical Access Project to provide healthcare to uninsured residents of Camden, Glynn and McIntosh counties. Her volunteer work includes serving as a medical volunteer for the Special Olympics, the Multiple Sclerosis Walk, Wendy’s/American Red Cross Flood Relief Project, and a volunteer work for Amity House (for battered women) collection drive and Glynn County Fire Department Firefighter/Paramedic.

Patti is a member of Sigma Theta Tau- Nursing Honor Society.

Doctor Steven G. Johnson

Doctor Steven G. Johnson, the medical director of AppleCare.

Doctor Johnson received his medical degree from the University Of Vermont College Of Medicine in 1975. His residency and internship was at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia. His pre-med education was at Bowdoin College of Medicine in Brunswick, Maine, where he was graduated with an A.B. degree in chemistry.

For nineteen years, Doctor Johnson founded and directed Occupational Medicine Associates, an occupational health clinic in South Portland, Maine. He directed occupational therapists, physical therapists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and five physicians at two health clinics. Previously he was medical director of Team Rx in South Portland, Maine.

Doctor Johnson was medical director at Sprague Sebago Shoe in Westbrook, Maine; Data General Corporation in Westbrook, Maine; Sprague Electric / Vishay Industries in Sanford, Maine; First Technologies in Standish, Maine; John J. Nissen Co. in Portland, Maine. He was the area medical officer for the U.S. Postal Service in Portland, Maine.

Doctor Johnson’s experience includes serving as attending physician at Riverview Psychiatric Hospital in Augusta, Maine, the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, and Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine. He served on the medical staff of Polk County Medical Center in Cedartown, Georgia, and the Button Gwinnett Hospital in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Doctor Johnson was a member of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and the American College of Physicians. He has served as a physician advisor to Anthem Blue Cross Insurance Company; a peer review consultant to Concentra Managed Care; a lead clinical evaluator for Silicon Breast Implant / Global Settlement; a Senior Aviation Medical Examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration; and an Assistant Chief for the division of Occupational Medicine for the Maine Medical Center.

Doctor Johnson is a Medical Review Officer. The MRO helps to protect both the rights of the employer and the rights of the employee being tested. The MRO determines if a drug test is “positive” if the test is legitimate. The officer determines the validity and the reliability of the test. This doctor has knowledge of prescription drugs and illicit drugs.

Doctor John C. House

Doctor John C. House received his medical degree in Internal Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia in 1967. His internship was at Memorial Medical Center. His pre-med degree was a Bachelor in Science in Biology in 1963 from North Georgia College.

Doctor House served in the United States Army for three years receiving additional medical training in trauma, GYN, internal medicine, and orthopedics.

Doctor House ran a private medical practice for 36 years in Winder, Georgia. He has experience in all aspects of medicine including inpatient, emergency room, outpatient, cardiology, XST, F/S, minor surgery, and laceration repair.

Doctor House is married to Pam and they have 6 children. Doctor House enjoys writing and golf.

Doctor Robert V. Reese, Jr.

Doctor Robert V. Reese, Jr., D.O., F.A.C.O.F.P., received his medical degree in 1987 from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

As a board certified family physician, he opened a family doctor practice in his home town of Fitzgerald, Georgia, in 1988. He delivered over 2500 babies and as their doctor watched them grow, as well as treating adults and geriatric patients.

He was an attending physician at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia; Irwin County Hospital in Ocilla, Georgia; and Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.

Doctor Reese served as a captain in the United States Army Reserves Medical Corps from 1987 to 1994.

He has been a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the American Osteopathic Association, and the Georgia Osteopathic Medical Association.

Peggy Edmonds, Nurse Practitioner

Peggy Edmonds, Nurse Practitioner obtained her Masters Degree in Nursing at Georgia State University in 1998, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the Medical College of Georgia in 1993. She had undergraduate education at The University of Georgia.

Before joining AppleCare, she was Clinical Program Direction at United Health Group in Minnesota where she represented 750 nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and case managers, and oversaw the development and implementations of enterprise-wide medical record systems in 38 Evercare offices serving 40-50,000 patients. She was honored with three “What Ever It Takes” Winning & Teamwork Awards.

From 1999 to 2005 she was a nurse practitioner with Ovations/Evercare. In 1998-1999 she was a nurse practitioner at DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur, Georgia. She was a Registered Nurse at Athens Regional Medical Center in Georgia.

Peggy is a member of American College of Nurse Practioners and American Geriatric Society. Peggy has her HIMSS Certified Health Information Certification.

Her experience in emergency medicine and geriatric is an asset to the doctors and patients of AppleCare.

Charles Militello, Physician Assistant

Chuck is a graduate of the University of Nebraska Medical Center and its Physician Assistant program, class of 1994.

He has been continuously Certified with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, NCCPA, during his career.

He is also a member in good standing with the American Academy of Physician Assistants, AAPA.

Chuck has worked in Asthma and Allergy research and Pediatrics but has spent the majority of his career in Family Practice. In this capacity, he has seen and treated many of the problems that patients commonly suffer from, for example, Hypertension, Diabetes, Hyperlipidemia, skin disorders, various infections, fractures, simple lacerations as well as Preventive care, General Physical exams, Well Woman care and Well Child care.

Chuck is seeing patients at our Pooler office.

Ashleigh Rentz, Physician Assistant

Ashleigh Lewis Rentz, Physician Assistant, obtained her obtained her Bachelor of Science, Physician Assistant at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta in 2007 ( Magna Cum Laude). She was graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology at the Medical College of Georgia in 2005 (Magna Cum Laude). She completed her undergraduate degree at Georgia Southern University.

Before joining AppleCare, her job experience includes working at Women’s Health Center in Jesup, Georgia; and Statesboro OB/GYN in Statesboro, Georgia.

Ashleigh has been a member of the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, the National Commission of Certification of Physicians Assistants, and the American Society of Clinical Scientists.

Ashleigh assists AppleCare doctors and brings a broad range of experience in internal medicine, mental Health, OB/GYN, women’s health, emergency medicine, plastic surgery, pediatrics, and clinical laboratory procedures.

J. Eric Seymour, Physician Assistant

Jason Eric Seymour, Physician Assistant received his Bachelors of Science, Physician Assistant, at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta in 2000. In 1992 he received his Associate of Nursing Degree at Coastal Community College in Brunswick, Georgia.

Eric’s work experiences includes: emergency medicine Prn with South East Georgia Health System; Liberty Regional Medical Center, Hinesville, Georgia; Camden Medical Center, Saint Marys, Georgia; Wayne Memorial Medical Center, Jesup, Georgia. Previously he worked at the Health Unit, Federal law Enforcement Training Center (Walk in and Urgent Care); with Doctor Jeff Gunderson at the Glynn County Detention Center Emergency Medicine Center.

Eric has lived in Brunswick for 18 years. He enjoys saltwater fishing, boating, contracing houses, and construction. He has two children.

Eric’s experience in urgent care and emergency medicine makes him an asset to AppleCare’s doctors and patients.

Rick J. Little, Physician Assistant

Rick J. Little, physician assistant, obtained a Masters Degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 2008. He received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Augustana College & University in Illinois in 1986. In 2009 he plans to graduate with his Master of Health Service Administration from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Georgia.

Before AppleCare, Rick was a physician assistant at GEA (SGHS-Brunswick Campus).

Rick is a member of Georgia Association of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physicians Assistants.

His training as a physician assistant included work in family medicine, physicals, minor care, orthopedics, OB/GYN, emergency medicine, pediatrics, diagnostic imaging, and plastic surgery.

Rick has worked as a medical volunteer at Hospice, Savannah, Georgia; and for AASU’s Give for the Gulf fundraising efforts.
